How Does Paid Marketing On Google Work?

If you are reading this, then you are probably looking into the world of marketing on Google.

Great start!

Most marketers and companies use Google as the best option when aiming to capture their organic or paid search.

And with Google having over 70% of the search market share it is no wonder why people use Google to drive new customers or patients to their business.

“So, it’s simple. All I need is to get my business at the top of page one of Google then I’ll get flooded with new customers.”

Easier said than done.

Getting to the top organic spot can require a ton of work and you must have extensive knowledge on how Google ranks a page (Google SEO) on their platform.

After you have acquired the #1 spot, you still need to manage your ranking in case a new Google algorithm update inevitably comes and changes the requirements for your ranking.

Google SEO does work very well, but the time it takes to achieve said ranking may not be the right fit for your business.

One other option is to pay directly for your #1 Spot. This is called Google Pay-Per-Click.

What Is Google Pay-Per-Click (PPC)?

PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click, a method in marketing that has advertisers pay each time one of their ads is clicked.

Essentially, you are buying visits to your site, rather than attempting to “earn” those visits organically from Google’s search results.

This is especially useful for targeting a type of customer/patient, popping up before your competitors, retargeting people who have already been to your site, and to promote services, events, ect.

For example, start with a marketing budget (Roughly 10% of monthly net revenue).

Create an ad on the Google Adwords Platform.

Monitor the Ad Spend with the budget in mind and then pay when someone clicks on your ad.

Now, of course, this is a gross oversimplification of the Google Pay-Per-Click process. However, this helps us to understand the Pay-Per-Click Method.

In reality, setting up and running Google Ads is a little complicated. That is why you will most likely want to hire a team who specializes in this type of marketing.

Why You Should Use Google Ads?

The short answer is the majority of people go to websites that are  on the top of the first page of Google.

Google Ads give you a chance to appear on the front page of a search result.

Additionally, having the ability to control:

  1. Keywords (What searches you pop up for?)
  2. Geo Targeting (Only Target where you want.)
  3. Custom Titles & Descriptions (Market Your Way)
  4. Track Phone Calls.

And more…
